Beech is the perfect wood for boards in that it is:

• a hardwood that is durable and scratch-resistant without being so hard that it blunts your knives.
• food safe and non-toxic.
• a small pored close-grained wood that keeps moisture, germs, and mould out of the wood and has a natural ability to kill bacteria.
• eco-friendly in that it is a renewable and sustainable resource.

All our boards are treated with a food-safe mix of natural oils and waxes that penetrate deep into the wood.

• This keeps the board supple and prevents it from getting dry and brittle thereby preventing swelling and shrinkage.
• Creates a protecting, microporous, hardwearing, and extremely durable surface.
• Water, heat & stain resistant (for more aggressive ingredients eg. Turmeric if wiped soon after use)
• Needs to be waxed occasionally (around once a year depending on use) with our regenerating liquid wax and is therefore easier than most boards to maintain.
